1. What are Rashtriya Military Schools?
Rashtriya Military Schools are fully residential public schools affiliated with CBSE and are operated under the Ministry of Defence. They are located in Chail (Himachal Pradesh), Ajmer (Rajasthan), Belgaum (Karnataka), Bengaluru (Karnataka), and Dholpur (Rajasthan).
2. Who is eligible to apply for admission to Class VI?
Boys and girls aged between 10-12 years as of 31 March 2025 (born between 01 April 2013 to 31 March 2015) are eligible to apply for Class VI. Six months of relaxation in the upper age limit is permissible for wards of personnel killed in action.
3. Who is eligible to apply for admission to Class IX?
Boys and girls aged between 13-15 years as of 31 March 2025 (born between 01 April 2010 to 31 March 2012) are eligible to apply for Class IX. Six months of relaxation in the upper age limit is permissible for wards of personnel killed in action.
4. What educational qualifications are required for admission?
- For Class VI: Candidates should have passed Class V from a government or recognized school before the date of admission. Students currently studying in Class V can also apply.
- For Class IX: Candidates should have passed Class VIII from a government or recognized school before the date of admission. Students currently studying in Class VIII can also apply.
5. What is the selection process for admission?
Candidates must take a Multiple Choice OMR-based Common Entrance Test (CET). The CET for Class VI will cover Intelligence, General Knowledge, Mathematics, and English, while the CET for Class IX will cover English, Hindi, Social Science, Mathematics, and Science. Successful candidates in the CET will be called for an interview, and the final merit list will be based on the cumulative score of the CET and interview. Shortlisted candidates will then undergo a medical examination at Military Hospitals.
6. What is the reservation policy for admission?
- 70% of seats are reserved for wards of JCOs/OR of Army, Navy, and Air Force (including ex-servicemen).
- 30% of seats are reserved for wards of Officers of Army, Navy, Air Force (including retired officers), and civilians.
- A maximum of 50 seats in all classes combined are reserved for the category “Killed in Action.”
- 27%, 15%, and 7.5% of seats are reserved for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC, and ST candidates, respectively.
- For Classes VI & IX, 10% of seats or a maximum of 30 vacancies are reserved for girl candidates.
