RMS CET 2026 Frequently Asked Questions
What is RMS CET 2026?
RMS CET 2026 is the entrance test for Class 6 and Class 9 admission (session 2027-28) to the five Rashtriya Military Schools at Chail, Ajmer, Dholpur, Belagavi and Bengaluru. The Stage-I written exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Where do I apply for RMS CET 2026?
Only online at exams.nta.nic.in/rmscet. Only one application per candidate is allowed.
What is the last date to apply?
Regular applications were open from 23 September to 20 October 2026. Late applications with a ₹500 late fee are accepted from 21 to 25 October 2026 (form up to 5:00 PM; fee payment up to 11:50 PM on 25 October).
What is the application fee?
₹1,000 for General/OBC/OBC (NCL) and ₹750 for SC/ST and wards of personnel killed in action, paid online by card, net banking or UPI. The late fee is ₹500 extra. The fee is not refundable.
Can I correct my application form?
Yes, but only in the permitted fields during the correction window on 27–28 October 2026. No corrections are allowed after that.
When is the RMS CET 2026 exam?
On 13 December 2026 (Sunday). It is held once a year, in December, as a pen-and-paper OMR test of 2 hours 30 minutes.
When will the city slip and admit card be released?
The city intimation slip is expected in the last week of November 2026 (tentatively 29 November) and the admit card about 5–7 days before the exam (tentatively 8 December 2026), on the NTA website.
What is the age limit?
Class 6: 10 to 13 years on 31 March 2027 (born 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2017). Class 9: 13 to 16 years on 31 March 2027 (born 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2014). Wards of personnel killed in action get six months’ relaxation in the upper limit.
What educational qualification is needed?
For Class 6, the child must have passed or be studying in Class 5 and pass it before admission. For Class 9, the child must have passed Class 8 from a government or recognised school before admission.
Can girls apply?
Yes. Girls get 10% of Class 6 seats or a maximum of 30 seats (whichever is less) across all five schools, and 10% of Class 9 seats across all five schools.
What is the reservation for civilians?
Seats are divided as 70% for wards of JCOs/OR, 20% for wards of officers and 10% for civilians. Vacant officers’ seats can be offered to civilians. Within each category, OBC (NCL) 27%, SC 15% and ST 7.5% reservation applies.
What is the exam pattern for Class 6?
English, Intelligence, Mathematics, and General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 50 questions of 50 marks each. Minimum marks are 35% in English (qualifying only, not counted in merit) and 40% in each of the other subjects, plus an interview of 20 marks.
What is the exam pattern for Class 9?
Paper 1: English (50), Hindi (20) and Social Science (30). Paper 2: Mathematics (50) and Science (50). Each paper is 100 marks with 50% needed to qualify, plus an interview of 50 marks.
What is the medium of the question paper?
Bilingual (English and Hindi) for Class 6, and English only for Class 9.
Is there negative marking?
No. There is no negative marking in the Stage-I written exam.
What is the syllabus?
Class 5 standard for Class 6 admission and Class 8 standard for Class 9. See our RMS CET Class 6 syllabus.
What happens after the written exam?
Candidates who qualify are called for a medical examination at a listed military hospital (for example MH Secunderabad) and then an interview at an RMS. The final merit list is based on written plus interview marks for medically fit candidates, and schools are allotted by merit and vacancies.
When will the results be declared?
Stage-I results with final answer keys are expected in January 2027; medicals and interviews in February–March 2027; the final result in March 2027; and joining on 1 April 2027.
What items are not allowed at the exam centre?
Mobile phones, electronic devices, watches, calculators, bags, study material and other barred items listed in the bulletin.
Do I need to post any documents to NTA?
No. Keep the confirmation page and documents safely for later stages.

Preparing for RMS CET?
With the exam in mid-December, students have about seven weeks. Focus on mathematics (the first tie-breaker), the intelligence test and GK with current affairs, and practise full-length OMR mock tests.
