The Permanent Commission (Service Selection) (PC(SL)) entry scheme is an exceptional opportunity for serving personnel in the Indian Army who wish to transition into a permanent commission. Vacancies Per Course
The PC(SL) scheme offers approximately 100 vacancies per year across various categories. The exact number of vacancies is subject to notification by the recruitment directorate.
Notification and Application Process
- The PC(SL) entry is conducted once a year, with the notification published in July.
- Application Process:
- The process starts from the unit level and moves through the Record Office to Personnel/Line Directorate and then to the Recruitment Directorate.
- The last date for receipt of applications at the Directorate General of Recruitment is 30th May.

Eligibility Criteria
Age
- Candidates must be up to 42 years old.
- For the Inspector of Army Band category, candidates can be up to 45 years.
Service
- A minimum of 10 years of service is required to be eligible for the PC(SL) entry.
Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have completed at least XII (10+2). Additional educational qualifications may be required depending on the category of entry.
Maximum SSB Attempts
- Candidates are allowed a maximum of three attempts for the SSB selection process.
Medical Categories
- Candidates must fall under the SHAPE-1 medical category, ensuring their physical fitness for the role.
Marital Status
- Both unmarried and married serving JCOs/NCOs (excluding Sepoys) are eligible for this entry.
Selection Process
- SSB Interviews: Shortlisted candidates are invited to attend the Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews.
- SSB Schedule: The SSB interviews are likely to take place in March/April.
- Medical Examination: Candidates will be assessed for their physical fitness and medical standards according to SHAPE-1.
