The 10+2 Technical Entry Scheme (TES) is a specialized pathway for young men who aspire to serve in the Indian Army as technical officers. Designed for candidates with a strong background in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, TES offers a unique opportunity to combine technical education with military training.
Vacancies Per Course
The TES scheme conducts two courses annually, each offering 90 vacancies.
Notification and Application
The notification for the TES scheme is published in Employment News and leading newspapers, typically in May/June and October/November. It is managed by the Directorate General Recruiting (AG’s branch, IHQ of MOD, Army).

Eligibility Criteria
Age
Candidates must be between 16½ and 19½ years on the first day of the month in which the course commences.
Qualification
- Academic Requirements: Candidates should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with an aggregate score of 60% or above.
- JEE (Mains): Candidates must have appeared in the JEE (Mains) exam for B.E./B.Tech to be eligible.
Marital Status
Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply.
Selection Process
- Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted based on their JEE (Mains) scores.
- Services Selection Board (SSB): Shortlisted candidates undergo an SSB interview process that includes psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interviews.
SSB Schedule
- For the January Course: SSB interviews are conducted between August and October.
- For the July Course: SSB interviews are conducted between February and April.
Training Details
Commencement of Training
- January Course: Training begins in January.
- July Course: Training begins in July.
Training Academy
The initial phase of training is conducted at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya.
Duration of Training
The training program spans 5 years and is divided into two phases:

Phase I:
- 1 year of pre-commissioning training at OTA, Gaya.
- 3 years of training at one of the following institutions:
- College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune
- Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow
- Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad

Phase II:
- 1 year of post-commissioning training at CME, Pune; MCTE, Mhow; or MCEME, Secunderabad.
Commission
Candidates receive a Permanent Commission after completing the 4-year training program.
