The Short Service Commission (SSC) Technical Entry Scheme is an excellent pathway for engineering graduates to join the Indian Army as technical officers. The notification for SSC Technical is published in Employment News and leading daily newspapers, typically in June/July and December/January. It is managed by the Directorate General Recruiting under the AG Branch.

Eligible candidates must apply online through the official website of the Directorate General Recruiting at www.joinindianarmy.nic.in during the application periods specified in the notification.


Eligibility Criteria

Age

Candidates must be aged between 20 and 27 years.

Qualification

  • Engineering Degree: A BE/B.Tech degree in one of the notified streams of engineering is mandatory.
  • Candidates in the final year of their engineering program are also eligible to apply, provided they can submit proof of passing before the commencement of training.

Marital Status

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply.


Selection Process

  1. Shortlisting of Applications: Applications are shortlisted based on the candidate's engineering discipline and academic performance.
  2. Services Selection Board (SSB): Shortlisted candidates are invited for SSB interviews, which assess their psychological aptitude, physical fitness, and leadership potential.

SSB Schedule

  • For the April Course: SSB interviews are conducted in December/January.
  • For the October Course: SSB interviews are conducted in June/July.

Training is conducted at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
