AISSEE Admit Card and Exam Day Rules: What to Carry, Banned Items and Instructions

Last updated: 24 October 2026. This guide explains everything about the AISSEE admit card and exam day for Sainik School Class 6 and Class 9 admission: when and how to download the admit card, what to carry, what is banned, what happens inside the exam hall, and the rules on unfair means. It is written for parents and students preparing for AISSEE 2027.

The official rules for each year are published by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the AISSEE Information Bulletin and printed on the admit card. Always read both. The points below are based on recent AISSEE cycles. See our AISSEE 2027 complete guide for dates and eligibility.

AISSEE Admit Card

When is the admit card released?

NTA releases the admit card on its website shortly before the exam, usually around one to two weeks earlier. Before that, NTA often publishes an advance city intimation slip so families can plan travel. Admit cards are not sent by post.

How to download the admit card

  1. Go to the official NTA AISSEE page: exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society.

  2. Click the admit card link and log in with the application number and date of birth.

  3. Download all pages and take a clear printout on A4 paper. Usually only the first page (with the self-declaration) is submitted at the centre, but read all the instructions on the other pages.

If the admit card does not download, contact the NTA helpline or email given in the Information Bulletin. Do not wait until the last day.

What to check on the admit card

Check the candidate's name, roll number, photo, signature, date of birth, gender, category, medium of the question paper, exam city, centre address, date and reporting time. If anything is wrong, contact the NTA helpline immediately. In past cycles, NTA has asked candidates to still appear with the downloaded admit card while it corrects the record.

Preparing the admit card before exam day

  • Paste a passport-size photo (the same one uploaded in the application form) in the space given.

  • Put the candidate's left-hand thumb impression where marked.

  • Get the parent's signature in the space provided.

  • The candidate signs the admit card in front of the invigilator at the centre, not at home.

The admit card cannot be transferred to anyone else, and duplicate admit cards are not issued at the centre. Do not change or damage any entry. Keep a copy safely after the exam, as it may be needed during counselling.

Exam City and Centre Rules

  • NTA allots the exam city and centre by computer. It tries to match your choice, but it can allot a different city.

  • Once the admit card is issued, the city, centre, date and time cannot be changed for any reason.

  • The candidate can write the exam only at the allotted centre, on the allotted date and time. Writing at another centre leads to cancellation of the result.

  • There is no re-exam for candidates who miss the exam for any reason.

Reaching the Exam Centre

  • Visit the centre a day before if possible, especially if it is in another town. Many AISSEE centres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are in district headquarters, so plan bus or train timings in advance.

  • Reach well before the reporting time printed on the admit card. Centres open about two hours before the exam, and entry closes at the time on the admit card. Late entry is not allowed.

  • In recent cycles the Class 6 exam was held in the afternoon (2:00 pm to 4:30 pm) and the Class 9 exam from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Always follow the timing on your own admit card.

  • Only one parent or guardian should accompany the child, and escorts must wait outside the gate.

  • Give the child a proper meal before leaving. Do not send them on an empty stomach.

Items That Are Not Allowed

NTA does not allow any item that could be used for unfair means. Banned items in recent cycles include:

  • Stationery: printed or written material, bits of paper, geometry or pencil box, plastic pouch, scale, writing pad, eraser, whitener, log tables.

  • Electronic devices: mobile phone, Bluetooth device, earphones, microphone, pager, health band, calculator, pen drive, camera, electronic pen or scanner.

  • Accessories: wallet, handbag, belt, cap, goggles, wristwatch, bracelet, jewellery and metallic items.

  • Eatables: loose or packed food, unless allowed for medical reasons as per the bulletin.

Rough work is done in the space given in the test booklet, so blank sheets are not needed. A candidate found with a banned item inside the centre is treated as using unfair means. Smoking is strictly prohibited on the premises.

Inside the Exam Hall

  1. Frisking: cooperate with the staff during the security check at the entry.

  2. Attendance sheet: the candidate signs the attendance sheet twice, once after the exam starts and once while handing over the OMR sheet, and adds a thumb impression and photo where asked.

  3. Instructions and signals: the invigilator reads out instructions before the start. Bells or signals are given at the start, at half-time and before the end. Stop marking answers when the final signal is given.

  4. Filling the OMR sheet: fill details and answers carefully with the pen specified. If you make a mistake while writing the roll number or other details, tell the invigilator immediately instead of trying to correct it yourself.

  5. No leaving early: candidates cannot leave the hall before the exam ends, even if they finish early.

  6. Before leaving: hand over the OMR answer sheet and the signed admit card page to the invigilator. Check the bulletin for whether the question booklet can be taken home.

NTA's evaluation is based only on the OMR sheet, so a calm, careful last five minutes for checking bubbles is worth more than attempting one extra question in a rush. Our AISSEE preparation guide explains how to practise OMR filling at home.

Unfair Means and Malpractice: What Counts and the Penalty

NTA treats any attempt to gain an unfair advantage as unfair means (UFM). Examples include:

  • Having a banned item, such as a phone or notes, inside the centre.

  • Impersonation: someone else writing the exam for the candidate.

  • Talking to or signalling anyone except the exam staff during the exam.

  • Helping another candidate or taking help, or writing on another candidate's OMR sheet or booklet.

  • Taking the OMR sheet out of the hall, tearing it, or erasing printed information on it.

  • Disturbing the exam, forcing entry or exit, or trying to influence the result afterwards.

  • Fabricating or changing online documents such as the admit card or self-declaration, or giving false information in the application.

Penalty: the candidate's result is cancelled and not declared. In recent bulletins, NTA has said UFM cases can be debarred from its exams for up to three years, with possible criminal action. NTA can also declare other actions as malpractice and can withdraw permission from an ineligible candidate even after issuing the admit card. If a student sees someone using unfair means, they should quietly inform the invigilator.
