This is a step-by-step guide to the AISSEE application form for Sainik School Class 6 and Class 9 admission: where to apply, documents to keep ready, how to fill each step, choosing exam cities, paying the fee, correcting mistakes, and common errors that get forms rejected. It is written for parents applying for AISSEE 2027.
Where to apply: the AISSEE application is filled only online on the National Testing Agency (NTA) website, exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society. Not on the Sainik Schools Society website, a school website or any agent's site. As of 24 October 2026, NTA has not yet opened applications for AISSEE 2027. For comparison, AISSEE 2026 applications ran from 10 October to 30 October 2025, with a correction window on 2–4 November 2025, so the 2027 notification is expected soon and the window is short. Before You Start: Check Eligibility
Make sure your child meets the age and class rules. For AISSEE 2027, the usual rule means Class 6 candidates should be 10–12 years old on 31 March 2027 and studying in Class 5, and Class 9 candidates 13–15 years old and studying in Class 8. Confirm in the bulletin. See our eligibility guide.
Only one application per candidate is allowed. One form covers both existing Sainik Schools and Approved New Sainik Schools, and the fee is the same either way. If a candidate submits more than one form for the same class, all of them can be rejected.

For Parents in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana
Apply for certificates early: domicile (residence) and caste certificates come through MeeSeva and can take days or weeks. Apply as soon as the AISSEE notification is out, or even before.
Choose the domicile state carefully: it decides the home-state quota your child competes in, for example at Sainik School Korukonda or Kalikiri. See home state and outside state quota.

Step-by-Step: Filling the AISSEE Application Form
Step 1: Registration
Open the NTA AISSEE page and click the new registration or apply link for the current year.
Enter the candidate's name and the father's and mother's names exactly as in school records, and the date of birth as in the birth certificate.
Choose an ID type and enter the ID details.
Enter the parent's mobile number and email, verify them by OTP, and enter the full postal address with PIN code.
Note down the application number and keep the password private. You will need them for the admit card, answer key and result.
Step 2: Application details
Select the class (6 or 9), category, domicile state, and gender.
Select the medium of the question paper. For Class 6, English, Hindi and several regional languages are available, including Telugu. Class 9 is English only. The medium cannot be changed after the form is submitted.
Choose four exam cities in order of preference from the list in the bulletin. NTA tries to give one of them but can allot another city, and if too few candidates choose a city, NTA may not open a centre there. NTA is not responsible for problems caused by a wrongly selected city code.
Fill in the school or school preference details if asked. Choosing schools mainly happens later, in counselling.
Step 3: Upload documents
Upload the photo, signature, thumb impression and certificates in the exact size and format given. Blurred or wrong images are a common reason for rejection.
Step 4: Pay the fee
Pay online. For AISSEE 2026 the fee was ₹850 for General, OBC (NCL), Defence and Ex-servicemen candidates and ₹700 for SC/ST candidates. Check the AISSEE 2027 bulletin for the current amount. The form is not complete until the fee is paid and the confirmation page is generated. Money deducted from your bank account alone is not proof of payment.
Step 5: Download the confirmation page
Download and print the confirmation page and keep it safely. You do not need to send it, or any document, to NTA by post, fax or hand.
You can complete these steps in one sitting or at different times, but finish them before the last date.
Checklist Before Final Submission
The candidate meets the age and class eligibility.
Name, parents' names and date of birth match the birth certificate and school records.
Category, domicile state and gender are correct, with matching certificates.
The medium of the question paper is the one the child will actually write in.
Four exam cities are chosen in the right order.
The mobile number and email belong to the parent or candidate and will stay active.
All uploads are clear and in the right format.
Correcting Mistakes: The Correction Window
After the application period closes, NTA usually opens a short correction window. During this window you can log in and correct most details and re-upload documents, as specified in the bulletin. Some fields, such as mobile number and email after payment, cannot be changed. Note the window dates as soon as NTA announces them; there is no second chance after it closes.
If you forget your application number, use the "forgot application number" option on the NTA login page.
Fees, Refunds and Withdrawal
The application fee is not refundable and cannot be carried forward to another year.
A submitted application cannot be withdrawn.
If you paid twice by mistake, NTA has refunded extra payments after fee reconciliation in past cycles; write to NTA with your application number and transaction details if it does not arrive.
Why AISSEE Applications Get Rejected
More than one application for the same class
Fee not paid, or confirmation page not generated
Incomplete form, or details not matching the instructions
False or fabricated information. NTA can reject the form and debar the candidate from future exams.
Neither NTA nor the Sainik Schools Society authorises any agent to fill forms or "guarantee" admission. Do not pay anyone for a seat.
Staying Updated After Applying
Keep checking the NTA AISSEE page and the registered email and SMS for the city intimation, admit card, answer key and result. Instructions in the bulletin can be updated by NTA.
