The Short Service Commission (SSC) NCC Special Entry Scheme offers an excellent opportunity for NCC cadets to join the Indian Army as commissioned officers. This pathway is tailored for individuals with prior experience and achievements in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), making it a prestigious entry route.


Vacancies Per Course

The SSC NCC scheme offers 50 vacancies per course, with courses conducted twice a year.


Notification and Application

The notification for the NCC Special Entry Scheme is published in Employment News and leading daily newspapers, typically in June and December. It is managed by the Directorate General Recruiting under the AG Branch.

How to Apply

Applications are submitted offline through the respective NCC Directorates as per the instructions given in the notification.


Eligibility Criteria

Age

Candidates must be aged between 19 and 25 years.

Qualification

  • Academic Requirements: A graduate degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • NCC Requirements: Candidates must have 2 to 3 years of service in the NCC Senior Division (Army) and a minimum 'B' Grade in the 'C' Certificate Examination.

Marital Status

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply.


Selection Process

  1. Screening of Applications: Applications are forwarded through NCC Directorates, where eligible candidates are shortlisted.
  2. Services Selection Board (SSB): Shortlisted candidates are called for SSB interviews, which include psychological assessments, group tasks, and personal interviews.

SSB Schedule

  • For the April Course: SSB interviews are conducted in December/January.
  • For the October Course: SSB interviews are conducted in June/July.

Training Details

Commencement of Training

  • April Course: Training begins in April.
  • October Course: Training begins in October.

Training Academy

Training is conducted at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

Duration of Training

The training duration is 49 weeks, during which candidates are rigorously prepared for their roles as commissioned officers.
