The Short Service Commission (SSC) Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry Scheme is a specialized entry route for law graduates who aspire to serve the Indian Army as legal officers. Vacancies Per Course

The SSC JAG scheme offers 10 vacancies per course, with courses conducted twice a year.


Notification and Application

The notification for SSC JAG is published in Employment News and leading daily newspapers, typically in July/August and January/February. It is managed by the Directorate General Recruiting under the AG Branch.

Eligible candidates must apply online through the official website of the Directorate General Recruiting at www.joinindianarmy.nic.in during the application periods specified in the notification.


Eligibility Criteria

Age

Candidates must be aged between 21 and 27 years.

Qualification

  • Academic Requirements: Candidates must have completed a law degree (LLB) with 55% aggregate marks.
  • Bar Council Eligibility: The candidate must be eligible for registration with the Bar Council of India or State Bar Councils.
  • CLAT PG Score: A valid CLAT PG score from the preceding year is mandatory for all candidates, including those pursuing or holding an LLM degree.

Marital Status

Only unmarried male candidates are eligible to apply.


Selection Process

  1. Shortlisting: Applications are shortlisted based on academic performance and CLAT PG scores.
  2. Services Selection Board (SSB): Shortlisted candidates undergo SSB interviews, which include psychological tests, group tasks, and personal interviews.

SSB Schedule

  • For the April Course: SSB interviews are conducted in December/January.
  • For the October Course: SSB interviews are conducted in July/August.

Training Details

Commencement of Training

  • April Course: Training begins in April.
  • October Course: Training begins in October.

Training Academy

Training is conducted at the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

Duration of Training

The training duration is 49 weeks, during which candidates are groomed in military law, ethics, leadership, and discipline.
